Privacy notice

What the Study Circle does with the details you send through this website, and your rights over them.

Who is responsible for your details

The Faroe Islands Study Circle, an informal members’ society of collectors based in the United Kingdom. If you have a question about your details, write to the Secretary using the contact form, or by post:

What we ask for

Only what you type into one of the two forms on this website:

  • Join or renew: your name and email address, how you would like the journal and newsletter, your postal address if you choose delivery by post, and anything you would like to tell the Secretary. If you are joining, you can also tick what you collect. That is optional, and used only as general information: it is not kept or shared.
  • Contact: your name, your email address and your message.

Visitors do not have accounts, and the website does not track you: there are no advertising or analytics tools.

What happens when you press Send

What you typed is emailed to the Secretary, and is not kept on this website. The email is sent by Amazon Web Services from its data centre in Ireland, on our behalf and on our instructions. From then on your details are held by the Study Circle’s officers, not by the website.

Why we use your details

  • If you join or renew: to keep the Study Circle’s membership records, to send you the journal and newsletter by email or post, and to contact you about your membership. We need your details to provide the membership you have asked for.
  • If you write to us: to reply to you. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us.

Who sees them

Only the Secretary, the Journal Editor and the Treasurer. Your details are not shared with anyone else, including other members, and are never sold. If you pay by PayPal, PayPal’s own privacy notice covers that payment.

How long we keep them

Membership records are kept while you are a member and for one year after you leave. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as it takes to deal with them.

Your rights

You can ask the Secretary at any time to see the details the Study Circle holds about you, to correct them, or to delete them. You can also ask for a copy, or object to how they are used. We will reply within 21 days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies for visitors. The only cookies it uses are set when a committee member signs in to update the website; they are needed for signing in and do nothing else.
